Avoid Toxic Chemicals in Pregnancy

This interactive infographic depicts five diverse pregnant figures surrounded by icons illustrating toxic substances such as mercury, lead, bisphenols, PFAs, phthalates, flame retardants, pesticides, and plasticizers. It identifies common sources of each chemical and provides guidance on how to avoid them. Set against a teal background with bold, high-contrast labels for clarity and accessibility, the design visually organizes household and environmental hazards—from cleaning supplies and cookware to plastics and dry-cleaning solvents—into an engaging, educational tool that promotes awareness and safer choices during pregnancy.

Design for Learning: It's in my DNA

Design for Learning: My Instructional DNA This interactive infographic showcases the six essential strands of my instructional design expertise — accessibility-first learning, evidence-based strategy, multimedia storytelling, technology integration, visual communication, and hands-on production skills. Inspired by the structure of DNA, the twisting double-helix illustrates how these competencies work together to create high-impact learning experiences. Built in Articulate Storyline, the infographic features clean navigation, WCAG-aligned contrast, screen-reader accessible structure, and visual cues that support intuitive exploration. The result is a compelling blend of art and cognitive science — a dynamic way to explore the foundation of my design practice and preview the portfolio pieces that bring it to life.e

Multi-colored puzzle piece apple

5 Ways to See the Spectrum

The graphic features a large multicolored apple composed of interlocking jigsaw puzzle pieces in red, blue, yellow, green, and purple. The apple, a universal symbol of learning, represents growth, inclusion, and diversity of thought. Its stem and two green leaves sit atop the puzzle-patterned apple, reinforcing the theme of learning and life.

The overall layout is clean, bright, and accessible, using high-contrast text on a navy blue background to ensure readability and focus. The color palette—anchored in primary tones—symbolizes the spectrum of human experience and the diversity of people with autism. The design aligns with a strengths-based, people-first approach.

Understanding Autism: 5 Ways to See the Spectrum

People with autism experience and interpret the world through a rich variety of perspectives. Some communicate through speech, others through writing, technology, or gestures. Sensory differences—such as how light, sound, or touch feel—can shape how a person interacts with their surroundings. By understanding these varied experiences, we begin to see that autism isn’t one fixed way of being—it’s a wide and meaningful spectrum of human experience.

Designer Notes for Infographics

The Creative Strategy: Each infographic was custom-illustrated to visually reinforce key learning concepts. Every icon, color field, and graphic composition was intentionally crafted to communicate meaning, simplify complexity, and maintain originality. The design style across all pieces is cohesive—balancing minimalist illustration with vibrant, high-contrast color to promote immediate comprehension and sustained engagement.

Instructional Intent: All infographics were conceived as digital teaching aids designed to enhance understanding and retention. They are suitable for both instructor-led and self-directed learning environments. Layout, pacing, and visual flow were structured around principles of cognitive chunking, dual coding, and progressive disclosure—allowing learners to process information efficiently and recall it more effectively over time.

Accessibility: Accessibility is integral to every infographic. High-contrast palettes, clean typography, and intuitive reading order support universal usability. Interactive versions include a defined focus order and keyboard navigation; static or alternate versions feature comprehensive alt text for users relying on screen readers. Whenever possible, button-based navigation replaces hotspots to improve accessibility and ensure compliance with WCAG and Section 508 standards.

Technical Design: Each piece was developed in Articulate Storyline 360, leveraging motion paths, object states, and triggers to simulate smooth interactivity without external scripting. All infographics are published as responsive HTML5 modules, ensuring reliable performance across browsers and devices while maintaining clarity and visual fidelity.

Marketing & Portfolio Value: This project demonstrates strong illustration capability, instructional design integration, and technical fluency across eLearning platforms. It’s a compelling showcase piece for clients and employers seeking a designer who bridges artistry, pedagogy, and technology.

Pedagogical Integration: Infographics on this page demonstrate a synthesis of artistry, pedagogy, and technology. They serve as examples of how visual communication can amplify instructional goals—helping learners see relationships, patterns, and hierarchies of information that might otherwise remain abstract in text form. Each design supports measurable learning objectives and can be integrated seamlessly into larger course modules, multimedia presentations, or interactive learning sequences.

Marketing & Portfolio Value:   Collectively, these infographics showcase expertise in instructional design, visual storytelling, accessibility, and technical development. They highlight an ability to translate complex educational theories and data into engaging, learner-centered visuals. As portfolio pieces, they represent the designer’s capacity to bridge the gap between conceptual clarity, creative execution, and inclusive design best practices.
